Mansions for sale in Poland

Mansions in Poland - brief introduction to Polish mansions

Polish mansions are smaller in size than palaces, still as beautiful and charming. They are mainly one-storey buildings by definition, built on a large floor plan. Finished with a porch and usually surrounded by a park complex with old trees are very picturesque and cosy to live in. Also accompanied by few outbuildings. They descend from Polish noblemen tradition from XVII to XIX century, some had been built at the beginning of XX century. Mostly built in countryside, although some of Polish mansions are located in towns and suburbs.

One of Polish aristocrats, Zygmunt Czartoryski, wrote about the specific climate of Polish mansions: 'Country mansions are built sideways, not upwards, spreading to the left and right. In a case that there is not enough room to contain everything, it is advised to built extensions rather than the second or more storeys. The pleasure of living in such mansions was the ease of leaving to an open field and spending more time on the open air, sometimes even doing some everyday chores and tasks outside. When you live on the second floor, you lose this convenience and pleasure.'

Luxury mansions for sale in Poland can be divided into several categories. There are noblemen mansions, suburban mansions, residences, hunting mansions and other. Large Polish mansions are called 'dwor', and smaller mansion - 'dworek'. Sometimes it is hard to distinguish between a large mansion - dwor - and a small palace.

Mansions in Poland - mansions for sale

Throughout the Polish history, there had been a few thousand mansions built, but only about one thousand have lasted until now. Like palaces and castles, some of these mansions are in a bad shape and condition, whereas a large part of them have been renovated and brought to the high standard so that they catch the eye again. You can find a lot of Polish luxury mansions for sale. The large ones are suitable for hotel conversion, or a conference center, spa and so on, whereas the small mansions are sometimes of the size of a large house. Therefore, they seem to be suitable for a holiday home or primary home, if you consider relocating to Poland.

When looking for a suitable mansion for sale in Poland you need to consider those several factors that are mentioned in polish castles and polish palaces for sale sections. I will repeat again: as castles, palaces and mansions in Poland are protected by Polish law, you must get to know the books of the property you are willing to buy. You need to find out what you will and will not be allowed to alter to the property. Otherwise, you could end up in disappointment and unable to proceed with your project. Again, seek advice from Polish estates agent, lawyer or your representative.
